Tatami armor with karuta plates

The cuirass consists of black lacquered rectangular iron plates linked together by chain. It has mail shinogote (gauntlets) and kusazuri (skirts). The kusazuri also made from iron plates linked by chain in five rows.
The helmet bowl is chochin kabuto (collapsible helmet) type which comprises ring-shaped plates laced in six rows with dark blue cords and a neck guard of Hineno type with five plates laced with dark blue cords is attached to the bowl.
Each part of the armor is foldable, and all of them including the helmet are allowed to be stored in the compact box with 32.7 cm long, 39.7 cm wide and 26.3 cm tall.
It is said that the 2nd lord of the Yanagawa domain took it to the Shimabara War in 1637.
