Largest beetle species in China and has been designated as the Class II protected species by the national government because of its rarity and high ornamental value. The maximum length of specimens in our collection is 8.8 cm (measured before drying), which is the largest size recorded in the world. The male's forefeet are slender and curved, and are used to hold the female while courting.
