This is a shuttle for weaving or mending a net. It also serves as a spool for winding net thread. Nets are crucial tools in fishery that have been used universally since prehistoric times to the present day. The history of this tool can be traced back to the invention of the fishing net, since producing a fishing net is a time-consuming task involving tens of thousands of knots. Netting needles were originally made of bamboo, but now they are mainly made of plastics. Weaving a net using a shuttle is called shuttle  weaving. To make a net using a net needle requires a ruler (bitdae), a shuttle, and net thread. Bitdae is a measurement ruler used to determine the size of the net stitches, and the perimeter of the bitdae is the size of one net stitch. A shuttle should be selected according to the thickness of the net thread and the size of the net stitch. Some shuttles are made of iron.
