This is a highly decorated three level stackable side dish box. The handle and base are finished with red lacquer and decorated with bats, mushrooms, and blossoms. The dishes have various patterns such as clouds, a pair of phoenixes, the four gracious plants, mushrooms and pine trees inlaid with mother of pearl. It is rare for a stackable side dish box to have a handle.
