Napui is worn practically by the Buddhist monk as everyday wear. It is made of grey cotton, and patched with fabrics dyed with Chinese ink in worn out parts. Therefore the shade of each piece is different. This patched coat for winter is the emblem of the wearer’s temperate and ascetic life. This Napui was worn by the head priest of Unmun Temple in Chungdo, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
