Daejeop is a bowl for serving soup or scorched-rice tea, and was also called daecheop. Daejeop is a larger bowl than a sabal. A bowl larger than an ordinary daejeop would be called lotus leaf daejeop, meaning it was a bowl as large as a lotus leaf. Daejeop was mostly made of brass or nickel, and used to serve soup. It makes a pair with a rice bowl, and has a wide mouth, a comparatively narrow bottom, and a curved, round body. Its foot is short and the bottom is flat. It is made of a variety of materials including wood, porcelain, silver, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.
