Data Pump Jack is an interactive artwork that utilizes the data based on Korean wedding consulting agency’s grade system. Once you put in your personal data to the questionnaire provided, it issues a mobile data coupon according to your grade. We often take silly online surveys to figure out what kind of hamburger we are, or when we would meet the love of our lives. Data Pump Jack signals such data gathered beyond user’s awareness could be miscategorized, misused, and manipulated. It warns us of ‘Data Crisis’, just as we suffered from the Oil Crisis in the 1970s. Now that the data holds immeasurable value, Data Pump Jack raises questions over the control of data.
