Gyeongju National Museum
Gyeongju-si, South Korea

These rare lacquer-covered stirrups in the shape of a metal pouch were donated by Lee Yang-sun (Kukeun). The tip, back, and sole of the stirrups are decorated with cloud and flower designs, and the entire body is covered with fine lines. The precise date of manufacture is unknown, but based on similar stirrups found in Shosoin, Japan, it is thought that they date back to the Unified Silla Period.
