Balche, or compost carrier, is a transportation tool fixed upon an ox’s back for carrying a load, and is also called dombalche, begeolche, balgu, and balgi depending on the region. In order to load heavy objects onto an ox’s back, a packsaddle should be placed on the ox’s back, followed by a compost carrier placed widthwise. A II-shaped frame was created using wood, to which multiple straw stings were attached to carry or hang loads.
