Horim Museum
Seoul, South Korea

This is a folding screen featuring various paintings of different subjects. The paintings are divided with thin lines, making it look as if they were pasted. They are mostly different sized square shapes, but there are some circles and sector shapes as well. Symbols of good fortune, such as crabs and mandarin fish for success at state examinations, deer and pine trees for longevity, as well as hunting scenes, birds and flowers are also depicted. Folding screens of various paintings were mainly made by professional painters during the 19th and 20th century and this piece, considering its composition and painting techniques, would have been made by a professional painter too.
