Paper Pattern for Socks

This is a paper pattern for beoseon, or socks. The shape of beoseon varied in each household. The royal court used unique royal patterns for beoseon, and every household had its own fit for the size of each household member’s feet. The patterns were kept in a collection of beoseon patterns. Each household’s beoseon patterns were passed down from generation to generation, and given away with a bride’s dowry.
