Bunghwangsa Temple was built around 634 CE during the reign of Queen Seondeok, and the stone stupa at the temple is estimated to have been constructed around the same time. This stone reliquary containing various sacrificial offerings and relics was recovered from the stone stupa. Among the items inside, a piece of green glass jar from a sarira is thought to date from the first construction of the stone stupa, while the silver bowl and lid (which contained sarira and coins) is estimated to have been added to the collection in the Goryeo Period. Other sacrificial offerings include pieces of crystal and jade, gold and silver needles, a sewing chest, scissors, tweezers, and clamshells.
