Joseon Dynasty

National Palace Museum of Korea

National Palace Museum of Korea
Seoul, South Korea

This is a plain large transverse flute. A steel plate was added to protect the membrane of the reed stalk that cover the hole and to increase the practicality of the flute. It has a mouthpiece and an open hole that makes the sound of this flute unique, along with six finger holes to control the pitch, and a seven-star hole at the bottom to tune the pitches.
