Illustrated Album of a Coming-of-age Ceremony for the Crown Prince

This album illustrates the procedures of the coming-of-age ceremony of a crown prince. The ceremony, which at the court belongs to a category of celebratory rites included among the five state rites of the Joseon dynasty, was held around the year when the crown prince turned ten. The ceremony was held with courtly dignity since it was the first ritual held for the crown prince after his birth. Thirteen pictures illustrate the sequences of the event, from the royal command to the preparation of the event and post-ritual celebration.
