Red Dragon Robe of Imperial Prince Yeong

This is a dragon robe which Imperial Prince Yeong wore when he returned from Japan and greeted Emperor Sunjong in 1922. The dragon robe was regular official garment of the king and crown prince in Joseon and the emperor and imperial prince of the Korean Empire. It is a set of outer coat, with curved collar, and inner coat, with straight collar. The former is made of cloud-patterned red silk gauze and the latter, in deep-blue. The collars for both coats were made of dark green patterned gauze, woven with degummed silk yarn. The chest, back, and shoulders are attached with insignias embroidered with a five-clawed dragon.
