Jabsang(earthenware figurines from roof-hips of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Palace of Resplendent Happiness) refers to a set of earthenware figurines of an earth god and main characters in the Journey to the West, a Chinese classic literature published in the 16th century. These figurines were placed on the four corner of the sloped roof ridgeof the royal hall. Number of figurines used varied according to the size of the royal hall, increased by odd numbers. Geunjeongjeon Hall, the Hall of Diligent Rule, in Gyeongbokgung Palace has seven earthen figurines on its roof, while Gyeonghoeru Pavilion retains eleven, being most earthen figurines placed on a palace roof.
