Ksitigarbha pranidhana Sutra tells of how Ksitigarbha Bodhissatva made great vows to rescue sentient beings. This book was originally published by Queen Dowager Jeonghui to pray for the soul of Queen Gonghye in 1474(fifth year of the reign of King Seongjong of the Joseon Dynasty) and was reprinted in 1485 (16th year of King Seongjong's reign). Three volumes were bound into one book, which measures 21cm wide and 32.3 cm long. Although there is a trace of revision at the end of Volume 1, the revised book was not published immediately after finishing the revision and was published by donators later. This book was earnastly published by the royal family at that time with the participation of top-class engravers, queens, and princes and eminent monks. Historically valuable, it suggests the concrete faith in Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and Buddhism in the royal family at that time.
