Bronze Mirror with Floral Design

A bronze mirror was used as a sorcery instrument, and was a symbol of power in the prehistoric period. Many bronze mirrors in various shapes and designs were produced during the period of the Goryeo Dynasty. In the period of the Joseon Dynasty, shapes became larger and thinner, while Sanskrit characters and flower designs were popularly used. In this work, there are sashes with holes so that a string can be inserted in the center, while flowers are engraved on the front and six Sanskrit characters are arranged within the circle along the outline. With the engraved Sanskrit characters, it is possible that this was a ritual object used in Buddhism.
