Abstract and geometric patterns can be easily found in various areas in Korean’s traditional life customs. Ever since the potteries in prehistoric times, simple symbolization of nature can be found here and there in traditional craftworks or buildings of everyday life.
In this exhibition there will be shown the following: Miao’s formal dress and Mandala’s patchwork wrapping cloth on which geometric patterns of flowers and butterflies are embroidered; art work by Lee Myung-Sook which reinterpreted a sense of basic cloth of Miao’s formal dress and geometric elements; and art work by Park Song-Ae which has patterns of patchwork connected to formal dress.
