Our ancestors lived at a humble but ecofriendly house with application of science of nature. The semi-basement dugout has a lower floor than the ground, which allows to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. The ground dwelling by development in construction technology solved humidity problem by raising the floor, and the connecting method to assemble lumber without using nail was used. The traditional kitchen was designed to perform cooking and heating functions at the same time, using the first floor-heating system, 'ondol'.
