École Polytechnique
Palaiseau, France

Having resigned from the Ecole polytechnique, he was able to create a reputation as an inventor. His works on alternating current motors, on the theory of induction motors, on damping circuits, on compound alternators, on maintained TSF waves place him at the forefront of electricians. His ingenuity was exerted in mechanics (brake Achard at the company of the railways of the East); he also devoted himself to hydraulics (pumps, turbines, Panama hydraulic ferry). After numerous tests, he produced a remarkable refrigeration machine which the navy used to cool the bunkers. In 1918, the Academy of Sciences called him into its new section of Sciences Applied to Industry. He had managed to combine extensive knowledge with an incomparable imaginative skill. President of the international electrotechnical commission
