The exhibition features unique examples of Western European and Russian glassmaking. The display includes about 90 pieces from the Department of Western European Applied Arts and the Department of the History of Russian Culture which demonstrate the varieties of decorative glass design. Visitors will see elegant Venetian filigree glass, massive German winebowls, skilfully engraved wineglasses and cups of Russian and European manufacture, vases, jewellery items with glass insets and mosaic pictures. The highlights of the display are a large table decoration made in Venice in the 18th century and a 19th-century Russian-made model of a sliding hill which has never previously been shown. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue intended for a wide readership.
