This exhibition is the first to join Alanic artefacts from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, State Historical Museum, State Museum of Oriental Art, Museum of Alanic Antiquities in Vladikavkaz and National Museum of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania.

The Alanic state spanned the lands of the Central Caucasus and Ciscaucasia. This exhibition builds the image of the Kingdom of Alania by offering a glance at the development of arts, crafts and social ties over a time frame of 1,500 years, from the first centuries AD to the period dividing the Middle Ages and the modern era. Displayed among the 500 exhibits are masterpieces of jewellery, ritual utensils, household items and Christian religious objects. The centrepiece of the exhibition are golden parts of ritual clothing, prime weapons and horse harness.

The cultural landscape of Alania is represented by 3D reconstructions and multimedia materials recreating mediaeval townscapes, Alanic written records, unique frescoes and temple décor.
