The Art Nouveau Collection Par Excellence. Imperial Porcelain and Glass Manufactories at the Turn of the Twentieth Century
Dec 24, 2022 - Apr 2, 2023
From the ‘Christmas Gift’ Series This exhibition introduces visitors to porcelain and crystal works produced at the Imperial Porcelain and Glass Manufactories in the 1880s – 1910s under the influence of the Art Nouveau style.

In keeping with the new principles of form-making and decoration applied across Europe, Russian masters created inimitable pieces, each one of their own artistic merit. The exhibition presents sketches drawn by various designers and masters as well as designs that took part in the competitions organised by the Imperial Manufactories under the patronage of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.

A total of around 150 exhibits are being on display. The exhibition, for the first time, showcases ceramic and glass pieces produced by Western European manufactories, purchased specifically for the collection of the manufactory museum for reference. Visitors can also see the products of the Royal Porcelain Factory, Copenhagen, Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Berlin, Théodore Deck’s ceramic company as well as objects executed by Émile Gallé, Ernest Baptiste Lévellé and the Daum brothers. Also displayed are designer works created by contemporary artists from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory.

This exhibition is organised by the State Hermitage Museum together with Imperial Porcelain Manufactory JSC.
