The Crown Creativity Lab is a participatory space activated by local partner organizations, artists, and MoMA visitors. Each project takes up a critical question inspired by art on view and invites creativity, personal reflection, and exchange with others.

How do you see yourself? How do you want to be seen?

Come to the Creativity Lab this summer to reflect on what a photograph can say about you. Take a picture with the backdrop and decide how to pose and frame yourself. Respond to writing and drawing prompts and find inspiration in a library of photobooks chosen by artists Lola Flash, Naima Green, Kia LaBeija, Wendy Red Star, and Cara Romero. See the artworks that inspired these activities in the exhibition Our Selves: Photographs by Women Artists from Helen Kornblum.

This installation is presented in collaboration with the Sadie Nash Leadership Project, an organization that strengthens, empowers, and equips young women and gender-expansive youth of color to be agents for change in their lives and in the world. Young artists involved in Sadie Nash will use the Creativity Lab throughout the summer to explore self-representation through photography.
