Joy of Imagine, Comfort Creative

People take most of their time with chair in daily life. For this, chair had been being developed both its function and shape depends on its need and usage. To designers, chair had been being considered as a creative object for challenge of new attempts and materials. . The diversity of furniture became designs of everyday life that is being expressed and used from Minimalism to a decoration, from the function to the emotion, from a material to the aesthetic, and from the commonness to an innovative concept.

Zaha Hadid always considered the inter-related spatial relationship to have the greatest significance in her design, and there exists furniture to show just this: five miniature versions of DDP named ‘Information Desk.’

This cultural multiplex is composed of five main spaces: Art Halls, Media Center, Business Center, two open studios. Info desks are located in each of these spaces. The biggest info desk is13-meter long and consists of 180 pieces linked together and considered as a representative design among other pieces.

Despite the size, the info desk continues to integrate the grand landscape of DDP in its sleek design. One can have a more intimate experience at the DDP by making a closer observation through the actual touch of these info desks. This will provide deeper understandings of Zaha Hadid’s architectural design and the messages she intends to deliver.

Info desk is exclusively designed as a part of DDP. Its existence not only is recognized for the aesthetic purpose, but also for the genuine purpose as its name.

Also, closer look at the construction process of the info desks is a great way to see Zaha Hadid’s philosophy of design. She has been requested to design without any given description or guidelines. As a matter of fact, she was asked to base her design on her firm belief of future of Korean architectural technology. Paramount importance of this project lies on the fact that we have brought the designer’s imagination into reality.
