The series of photographs of the new campus in Lakeland, Florida, has drawn the attention of New York / Tampa photographer Joseph Constantino. He admires the architecture of the Library at Florida Polytechnic University that was created by Santiago Calatrava. Calatrava also designed the beautiful City of Arts and Sciences at his birthplace, Valencia, Spain.

Constantino writes that one of the reasons he visits the Library is because “Calatrava’s style, that includes many curves and arches, fits well with the photo solarization process. Reflections and shadows add to the aesthetics of this structure which many students visit on a daily basis. One of the unique features of the library is that it houses no books, it is strictly a technology site.”

As a photographer who often returns to sites that interest him, Constantino has most recently photographed a new structure—The Oculus –by Calatrava in New York City. The building is actually the Path Terminal, opened in February of 2016, and now the Pathway that connects New York City and New Jersey. Constantino observes that The Oculus at Ground Zero follows the same type of curves and arches concept as the Library in Florida making it a most appealing site.
