Women for Expo: Promotion of sustainable and alternative arts and crafts

Padiglione Italia Expo Milano 2015

Women are protagonists in Italy Pavilion

The exhibition is dedicated to the traditional figure of Indian singing women, painters and storytellers who travelled from village to village to inform and entertain, using strips of painted paper.

The project brings together three concepts of Expo Milan 2015: the “garden” that hosts the rites of sowing. “Italian” as a testament to a tradition steeped in art. “Beauty” as an ethical value.

The Apa Confartigianato Imprese Milano Monza e Brianza Association carried out "Di Donne Vitalità Artigiana", presented with the goal of establishing cooperation between women artisans and designers.

The project has improved living conditions for 200 Maasai women in Tanzania, by supporting them in perfecting their technical and entrepreneurial skills for the production and sale of jewellery.

The association is inspired by the teachings of Shri Mataji Nirmala, its activities aim to achieve a cultural revolution based on a new awareness of the role of women in society.
