Sky Over The East

Barjeel Art Foundation

This exhibition offers a window into the work on 20th century Arab artists. Modes within which those artists worked extended from naturalistic documentation of people and landscapes, to creating socio-political commentaries, exploring theological matters, and addressing intimate, personal narratives and concerns. Works of Arab Modernists, despite being separated by geography and time, often addressed similar questions, took on similar approaches and displayed a shared ethos.
