The exhibition ENTREDICHOS (In Question) reveals details of the social and political conditions of a particular moment in our history and proposes an approach to our culture from the standpoint of the tensions, contradictions, and complexities that define it.

ENTREDICHOS builds conceptual bridges between our gazes and the gazes of others with respect to the importance and diversity of meanings that can be derived from our history and its processes, from the many different ways of interpreting it, feeling it, and debating it.

The selection of works done by artists of several generations—Puerto Rican, Caribbean, and Latin American, and their respective migrations—points toward our objective to approach the notion of “nationalism” and “the national” by rising above an insular perspective and considering the contributions of the diaspora and reconsidering Puerto Rico’s Caribbean-regional and Latin American-cultural position in today’s world.

The works depicted here include Smoke Curtain, by Antonio Martorell; Intermezzo, Ship Adrift, by Garvin Sierra; The Sorcerer's Chamber, by Jaime Romano; Bamboo, by Myrna Báez; and River Mouth, by Javier Orfón.
