Shelter in Place (2020-01-01) by Geinene CarsonArtPop Street Gallery

"This painting was created in response to the pandemic during official shelter in place orders. The inspiration draws on how one would build a shelter in the forest, a structure constructed in preparation for living exposed to natural elements – an absolute must for the chance of survival in harsher environments.

Instead of gathered sticks and forest debris, the construction is oddly made from neural connections, because as important as our physical surroundings are to our state of living, our thought life holds the key to thriving within whatever the circumstances may be. The reality is each of us is crafting a space in which to live and the quality of that structure is revealed when the storms come. Our thoughts can either build a solid shelter for protecting us well or a haphazard frame destined to come crashing down, leaving us trapped and even more vulnerable.

This lean-to, neural structure symbolizes the importance of controlling our thoughts while forced to hunker down in the wilderness of the pandemic. By examining the notions which have taken up residence – the fear, anxiety and grief – we can tend to the places in need of renovation and repair, nurturing deeper personal growth and establishing a healthier place to dwell." -Geinene Carson

Flares in Fog (2020-01-01) by Geinene CarsonArtPop Street Gallery

"Most of us can relate to experiencing “foggy brain” on occasion, but those suffering with chronic neurological conditions are frequently sending flares of S.O.S through a haze of uncertainty. Limited answers and subsequent isolation can add to poor visibility, yet a determined hope can help dispel the fog, leading to the discovery of support and new life on the other side." -Geinene Carson

Reclamation (2020-01-01) by Geinene CarsonArtPop Street Gallery

"This image represents the transition phase of healing and recovery, physically and mentally – the reality of the bloodshed, foggy confusion, and hopeful pursuit of some sort of peace and order again. This neuron is caught in the throes of the healing process, turbulent yet progressive, with its fight for new life coming from its bright, light-filled center. Hidden throughout are hummingbirds which have a unique neural process allowing them to take in visual information from all sides at an amazing rate of speed." -Geinene Carson

Torbernite (2020-01-01) by Ashley ChambersArtPop Street Gallery

"This piece is a part of my Rocks and minerals series. This piece is a hyper-focused painting of the rock, Torbernite. This piece is a part of my rocks and minerals series that portrays rocks in an abstracted nature. Torbernite is an exciting rok because it is deadly because of its radioactive properties. I loved the idea of making something dangerous into a beautiful piece of art. The vibrant greens and depth in this piece are exciting and gives the viewer a chance to delve into the rock and explore its features." -Ashley Chambers

Bismuth (2020-01-01) by Ashley ChambersArtPop Street Gallery

"This piece is a part of my Rocks and minerals series. This piece is a hyper-focused painting of the rock, Bismuth. This piece is a part of my rocks and minerals series that portrays rocks in an abstracted nature. Bismuth is interesting because of the vivid neon colors that appear after oxidation. I chose this rock because I wanted to challenge myself by creating neon colors with oil paints to make a compelling image." -Ashley Chambers

"This piece is a part of my Rocks and minerals series. This piece is a hyper-focused painting of the rock, Agate. This piece is a part of my rocks and minerals series that portrays rocks in an abstracted nature. This particular agate attracted me because it appeared to melt into itself. I wanted to capture that with the warm colors and forms." -Ashley Chambers

Mama and Bandit (2020-01-01) by Ann CockerillArtPop Street Gallery

"We first met Mama, a wild pony from Assateague Island, about 5 years ago. While we were photographing a herd, she snuck behind us and grabbed our lunch. A couple years later, we went back and there was her colt who looked like he had a bandit mask across his eyes. Thought it was very fitting. Once again it was the dramatic back lighting that I loved along with the beautiful wild ponies" -Ann Cockerill
