Give 'em the 'ol Razzle Dazzle (2020-01-01) by Charlotte BellandArtPop Street Gallery

"Highlighting the hunting style of the Black Heron, this illustration uses bold ink lines to feature the razzle dazzle energy of this fabulous bird. This illustration appeared as part of an October Instagram challenged called “Draw Goth Birds.” -Charlotte Belland

Blamegame (2016-01-01) by Veda SaravananArtPop Street Gallery

"Humans tend to run away from directly addressing any issues, they would rather run away from problems by blaming each other. When this happens, we never find solutions to any of these problems. No one is taking responsibility to the world's happenings" -Veda Saravanan

Kites up in the Air (2016-01-01) by Veda SaravananArtPop Street Gallery

"In India, we celebrate an annual kite festival that takes place during the months of spring when it’s cooler and windy. During the celebration, there are colors everywhere and we welcome spring and the brand new circulation of new births and growths. My inspiration however is the free flow of colors and the abstract nature of it. It’s how the kids and adults played and lived callously without any worry in life." -Veda Saravanan

Coexist- top of the food chain (2016-01-01) by Veda SaravananArtPop Street Gallery

"This represents how much damage humans do to this world. Every organism in this world depends on each other, but humans tend to want a lion's share of everything. These huge industries and factories directly affect the smaller organisms that in return effect the entire food chain and ecosystem." -Veda Saravanan

Uncaged (2016-01-01) by Veda SaravananArtPop Street Gallery

"I had some realizations and felt like us humans can be very selfish. We appreciate the artificiality of life and let the real diminish away. We feel that every living being is put in this world for our comfort and entertainment. I feel like birds really represent freedom and displaying them as caged, shows how much freedom we give to others" -Veda Saravanan

Tryon Street (2021-01-01) by Marvin EspyArtPop Street Gallery

"This piece is significant to me in a number of ways. This is among my earliest experiments with cityscapes. My aim was to render a sense of Charlotte's emergence as a cosmopolitan center, lively, and vibrant. It is most meaningful in that it was selected to be among the 20 pieces included in the Class of 2019 ArtPopCLT Street Gallery." -Marvin Espy

Mr. Boyer (2021-01-01) by Marvin EspyArtPop Street Gallery

"This is my neighbor and friend, J. Boyer.

As his neighbor for a little more than 18 years, I have come to know Jan as a kind, caring and generous man. Mr. Boyer is old enough to be my father, yet he can still out-work anyone half his age. He has earned his living as a landscaper, and has made a good life for himself. Mr. Boyer single handedly designed and constructed a large waterfall display at his commercial property on Old Pineville Road, solely to provide beauty for commuters and passerbys. He maintains a robust garden and provides his neighbors and charitable organizations with fresh vegetables. Should you happen to have a conversation with him, you will surely learn about his amazing mother, how he tends to his cats, and perhaps you'll hear a bit about how he was a championship Ballroom Dancer, a hobby he took up in his 50's.

At his age, he surely went through his formative years in a time when he and my father were not very likely to have been friends. At one point they could not, or perhaps would not share a drink from the same fountain, or a seat on a bus. But I am delighted to have experienced Mr Jan as someone who would make fun of my inability to keep a green lawn, mock me for planting a bush in the fall, that would die at first frost, and give me grief for not rotating my tires on time, just as my father would have. Mr. Jan is the same old salt to everyone. Proud to be his neighbor." -Marvin Espy

Mawmaws Biscuits (2021-01-01) by Bailey WinglerArtPop Street Gallery

"This hand carved, relief print is based on my own memories of sitting at my grandmother's table. In the South, biscuits are an accompaniment to almost any meal at any time of day. Here I am connecting to the ideas of "passing down" information from one generation to another and the importance of simplicity." -Bailey Wingler

GatherRound (2021-01-01) by Bailey WinglerArtPop Street Gallery

"Gather Round" was created as part of a mixed-media, photographic study of the formal table and the family dining experience. Here fabrics, paintings, hand pulled prints and objects have been layered both physically and digitally to create the end result.- Bailey Wingler

The Mom (2021-01-01) by Bailey WinglerArtPop Street Gallery

American mothers are expected to fill a multitude of roles, many of which intersect in challenging ways. From mother to sexual object. From homemaker to professional. "Mom," is intended to highlight these dichotomies in a way that is both humorous and chaotic.- Bailey Wingler

Morning Commute (2018-01-01) by Holly SpruckArtPop Street Gallery

This 6ftx18ft oil painting is a statement on the life of a commuter, suburban sprawl and reverse culture shock. It is the intersection of three stories: a universal story, a cross-section of the day-to-day world we experience on the way from point A to point B; a personal story, about my move back from Prague, in the Czech Republic, to this strange new/old place where I was born called the USA; and finally, an accidental story, our impact on the environment and each other - an inter-dependency of natives and transplants familiar to most Charlotteans. This subject although serious and maybe a bit sinister in many ways is also told with a sense of humor.- Holly Spruck

Loutka (Puppet) (2021-01-01) by Holly SpruckArtPop Street Gallery

This oil painting shows a series of scenes from Czech legends and lore. The DJ (master puppet) at the top is controlling all of the action below. This painting was done for the cover, La Chimere of Prague by author, Rick Pryll.- Holly Spruck

The Middle-Finger of Plaza Midwood (2021-01-01) by Holly SpruckArtPop Street Gallery

"Modern progress has a way of knocking down, knocking out the "small guy." As Charlotte continues to experience growing pains some of her most iconic places are slowly disappearing. The dive bar "Thirsty Beaver Saloon," home to many a struggling young musician, is not down or out. Its persistence against towering neighbors is admirable and legendary." -Holly Spruck

Sorcerer (2015-01-01) by Owens DanielsArtPop Street Gallery

"The dark studio was night, the solid stone floor cold expanding as the space became formless and pulsing as the Sorcerer hexed the storm. UNCSA drama student performing a impassioned dance to Carmina Burana: O Fortuna

The Winston Salem Project (WSDP) was conceived from the belief that dance and art can coexist and communicate a common language that we all can understand. It changed the life of the dancers and
challenged me to push myself beyond what is portraiture. To work with such talented young people and create spaces and time to my favorite music Carmina Burana: O Fortuna was magic." -Owens Daniels

US (WSDP) (2015-01-01) by Owens DanielsArtPop Street Gallery

"Welcome to the night, come in, don't be afraid, we have been waiting for you. We are neither light nor dark but emptiness. UNCSA drama students posing and capturing the passion of the moment as Carmina Burana: O Fortuna closes.

Winston Salem Dance Project (WSDP) highlights several inspirational free form styles from the students of the drama and dance departments of UNCSA recreating Carmina Burana: O Fortuna in all its energy. " -Owens Daniels

Falling away (2015-01-01) by Owens DanielsArtPop Street Gallery

"Evil has had its way and good is falling away. No one catches her as she drifts into the dark, the spell is too strong. Will the sorcerer help? UNCSA drama students freestyling to the moment and feel as the music of Carmina Burana: O Fortuna darkens." -Owens Daniels

Natalie (2015-01-01) by Owens DanielsArtPop Street Gallery

"A statue of passion and glory that stands as a spellbinder and barrier between good and evil. UNCSA drama students performing a ballet dance style to Carmina Burana: O Fortuna" -Owens Daniels
