We can build our own creative structure at the Construction Zone. Let’s think about the different kinds of buildings we have seen, and consider the many materials and designs used to make them.
Can you imagine the house you would like to live in in the future after seeing the diverse designs of traditional Korean houses, ancient Greek temples, and modern structures? Is it a wooden house or a brick house? How can we build a fine, solid house? Let’s explore the world of building materials and then design and build the most unique house in the world!
(This zone is designed for pre-schoolers to early elementary school students.)

'Brick Blocks' Displays
• Learning Objectives:
-To help children acquire team spirit and nurture a sense of independence through participation in a hands-on experience of building a complete house with a guardian or peers.
• Instructions
1. Learn two methods of piling up bricks: one style showing the side, the other showing the bed.
2. Make various patterns by combining the two methods.

• Learning Objectives:
- To understand the characteristics of a wooden structure by experiencing the space of a Korean traditional wooden structure.
- To learn about the tools required to make a wooden structure.
• Instructions:
1. Closely observe both the exterior and interior of a wooden structure.
2. Observe the tools used to build a wooden structure.

• Learning Objectives: - To get to know Gaudi, the world famous architect, by playing a game. - To nurture creativity by looking at examples of Gaudi’s architecture.

• Learning Objectives:
-To learn about the principles behind an arch’s ability to maintain its structural balance by building a Western-style arch structure.
• Instructions:
1. Place two pieces on each side.
2. Place two more pieces next to them.
3. Place the last piece in the center.

‘Iron Structure’ Displays
• Learning Objectives:
- To understand a structure made of iron, one of the most important and representative components of modern architecture, and to experience the characteristics of iron structures by playing a balancing game on top of it.
- To learn about the tools required to make an iron structure.
• Instructions:
Walk cautiously on top of the H beam.

‘Buildings Made with Stone and Wood’ Displays
• Learning Objectives:
-To learn about buildings made of stone and wood from around the world.
• Instructions:
1. Work on a puzzle to find out where in the world each building comes from.
2. Gather the pieces of the puzzle and put together buildings made of the same material.

• Learning Objectives:
-To widen children’s viewpoints by showing them various buildings designed with the outstanding creativity and imagination of world-famous architects.
• Instructions:
1. Open up the panel imagining what a building would look like.
2. Think about what the building’s purpose is.
