Young Lords

The Young Lords was a Puerto Rican nationalist group. They founded the NYC Chapter at Tompkins Square Park on July 26, 1969. Their primary mission was neighborhood empowerment and community control.

Charas-El Bohio Community Center

The former P.S. 64 was the home of the Charas/El Bohio Community Center. Charas was formed by five Puerto Rican men in the 1960’s as a positive force in a neighborhood beset by drugs and gangs.

Jean-Michel Basquiat Residence and Studio
