Paintings, sculptures, installations from the 19th century to present days

The collection of the Galleria Nazionale
The Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (National Gallery of Modern Art) holds the most complete collection of Italian and foreign art from the 19th to the 21st centuries.

With paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations, the nearly 20,000 works in the collection are an expression of the main artistic movements over the last two centuries—from Neo-Classicism to Impressionism; Divisionism to the historic Avant-Garde of the early 1900s; Futurism to Surrealism; and the most notable works of Italian art from the 1920s and 1940s to the Novecento movement and the so-called "Scuola Romana" (School of Rome).

Another significant collection comprises works from the informal period after the Second World War, from Pop Art to "Arte Povera" (Poor Art). The collection also features contemporary artists.
