The Royal Project Foundation has operated development activities followed the principles initiated by His Majesty the King in order to reach the highest achievement to reduce step, to do a thankless job, to hurry up, and to help them help themselves.

Completed Circles
The Royal Project Foundation has operated development activities with “the completed Circles”  

The first circle is soil and water survey.

The second circle is land use planning covering forest replantation with terrace and water drainage system, vetiver grass plantation, construction of irrigation system and transportation improvement operated in agricultural areas.

The initiative of Royal Project Foundation success is the research.
The third circle is research programs on new varieties of temperate crops which are very important and have to be conducted continuously.

The speech of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadaj was initiated the practically of Royal Project research.

Ankhang is the first development center at Monping sub-district, Fang district, Chiang Mai. The center was operated on research and demonstration farm of various temperate plants.

Then, three of other development centers were allocated at Pang-da, Sa Moang district, Intanon, Jomtong district and Mae Lord, Mae Tang district, respectively.

With great determination in research studies of the Royal Project Foundation, new varieties of different crops including vegetables, herbs, temperate fruits, flowers, field crops, teas, coffees, fishery and livestock have been developed and selected properly for each development center in highland topography and climate.

On the 24th of January 1973, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen addressed the ambassadors from Australia, Austria, France, Germany, India, Israel, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the United States and China to the Agricultural Center and visited the Pun Ha Garden where apples, pears and peaches were grown.

The initiative of H.M. was proceeded proficiently and efficiently. Not only the cooperative of university volunteers, government sectors and private sectors, but also the international cooperation have rendered support on new research studies resulting in the development of career, marketing and RPF product, highland social development, natural resources recovery and the being of knowledge center of highland sustainable development.

Royal Project Foundation is regarded as the first success project for opium cultivation elimination by purposing the alternative development for highland people.

The success of research into the development.
The fourth circle is the extension of successful research results to hill tribe farmers together with plant protection, social and public health development in order to “help hill tribe help themselves”.

Originally, RPF focussed on farmer career development together with the provision of new agricultural research and training, distribution of plant varieties and livestock to farmers.
Research results have been transferred to the farmers immediately. Formerly, RPF villages were called visiting village visited by volunteer members and researchers from various organizations .

Currently, RFP is implementin in 38 development centers located in 5 Northern provinces; Chiang Mai, Lam ung, Chiang Rai, Pa young, and Mae Hong Son, at an elevation of up to 700 meters above sea level in the watershed forest area.

RPF Development Centers aime at encouraging farmers to earn enough to be self-reliant and to live with sustainable forest. There is the demonstration of agriculture and livestock at each development center in order to be learning and training center for farmers and officers.

In addition, the new plant varieties and livestock have been introduced to farmers in the area around the centers by RPF staff and experts.
