Various life paths of MPs in 1920

During the Polish–Soviet War, members of parliament in the Legislative Sejm participated in organising the defence of the state and common people. They took part in peace negotiations in Minsk and Riga. Many MPs fought with guns in their hands on all fronts of the Polish–Soviet War, and the clergy served as chaplains. These are only a few examples of the members of parliaments’ dedication and patriotism in times of threat to the newly regained independence.

Aleksander Napiórkowski MP (Polish Socialist Party) co-founded the Government of National Defence. He served in the 108th Uhlan Regiment in the 8th Cavalry Brigade. He was killed in the Battle of Ciechanów on 18 August 1920.

He was posthumously promoted to the rank of cavalry captain, decorated with the Silver Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari, the Cross of Independence with Swords and the Cross of Valour.
