Indian Railways introduced its first vistadome coach in April 2017, on the train to the scenic Araku vally on the Visakhapatnam - Araku route.

With a capacity of 40 seats, the Vistadome coach can prove to be a nice concept for corporate sector to fulfil their dreams of having a conference with a different style and setting.

It can also cater to the requirement of a small group of foreign/Indian travellers who would like to see India by rail.

The coach has large windows for better viewing, adjustable seats that can be rotated to face in any direction, charging points on the seats, LCD screens, separate space for keeping luggage bags, a pantry and a public address system.

An observation area at the end of the coach helps to get a great view of passing scenery from the rear of the train.

In the picture, the Vistadome coach is detached and taken to a siding with the help of a locomotive. It stays there all day and is attached to the same passenger train in the evening that travels towards Visakhapatnam.

This is the first and one-of-its-kind initiative taken by the railways to boost tourism through the rail mode.

Recently, the Mumbai Division of Central Railways introduced a similar coach, which is planned to be attached to the Dadar-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express.
