This sari belonged to the family of poet Ardeshir Khabardaar (1881 - 1953).
Garo has become an identity of Parsi women. It is worn on special occasions as well at marriages. By the early 19th century prominent Parsis owned shipping copmanies and piled a profitable trade with China. The design and motifs were essentially Chinese, mainly depicting floral creepers, birds and animals.
