Best known for his practice of traversing mythological and historical worlds, Yogesh Ramkrishna's works are a space where fantasy and reality coexist. In this work, presented in the form of a comic book, he creates a fictional space called "Badlands" where at an art exhibition, a female artist is forced to defend her art against cultural conservatives who deem her art lewd and against Indian culture. Inspired by Indian miniatures, the mythical tales and traditional cultures and beliefs he grew up with, Yogesh's works deal wit ideas of cultural suppositions and boundaries, religious tensions, and social attitudes.
