Kappa's unique colourway through the centre of the shirt, as well as the offbeat positioning of the sponsor and crest, helped the Blucerchiati stand out from the Serie A crowd throughout the early nineties and beyond.
Sampdoria wore this shirt during the 1989-90 campaign, winning the Cup Winners' Cup that year. They wore a similar style jersey the following year, in which they claimed their first (and to date only) Scudetto.
Now a classic design, other clubs have attempted to imitate the design - particularly the central bands - on their own shirts, but few come close to the original.
