The first few years of the twentieth century saw, for the lady of leisure, a continuation of the fashionable preoccupations of the nineteenth century. Typical for leisured day wear were smart tailor-made suits of skirt and long jacket worn with large hats and accompanied by envelope 'Boulevard' bags or tiny leather handbags with shaped handles, trim and neat, decorated with silver corners. This brown leather crocodile effect bag contains an imitation ivory note tablet and a purse.
