REAL DMZ PROJECT
Seoul, South Korea

MOON Kyungwon and JEON Joonho present a project on the “Freedom Village” located in the Korean DMZ. The artists bring out this time- frozen artifact from 60 years ago in order to confront the contradictions and limitations of the world that surrounds us. The purpose of this project is far beyond just illuminating a special situation, namely, the division of the Korean peninsula; the project seeks to incite a new vision and scope of thinking by pointing out the institutional and authoritative power that renders our lives dull, transcending beyond the realm of art and redefining the relationship between humanity and the world, and life itself.
