Mixed-media modernist artist Antoni Tàpies, is considered one of Spain’s most renowned artists of the second half of the 20th century. Essentially self-taught, his personal style for much of his career was related to matière painting, or Art Informel, a movement that focused on the materials of art-making. Later in his career, he explored the aesthetic of meditative emptiness, a style represented in this poster design, with its spray-painted canvas and linear elements that allude to Far East calligraphy and provide an abstract image.
