In 2011, an old tobacco processing plant and Cheongju Craft Biennale officially met. The Cheongju Craft Biennale, which marked its seventh anniversary, was joined here under the theme "not just new, but critical." More than 3,200 artists from 60 countries participated and displayed high-quality craft design works. It deeply embodies the new history of Korea's first art factory-style biennale using the old tobacco processing plant, which was the cradle of the industry recently. Since then, it has been reborn as a biennale where cultural and artistic experts from around the world rave about it, calling it the Venice Biennale in the field.
