29c Black-Necked Crane stamp

The United States Postal Service and the People's Republic of China marked World Post Day with the issuance of two 29-cent commemorative stamps on October 9, 1994, in Washington, DC, and Beijing, China. The stamps feature two endangered species, pictured here, the Black-Necked Crane of Asia and, the Whooping Crane of North America. These birds symbolize peace and friendship.

Both countries agreed to adopt the art work of Zhan Gengxi of China and the layout, design, and typography work of Clarence Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, for the stamps.

Banknote Corporation of America printed the stamps in combination offset-intaglio process.
