For Penique Productions a room is a pretext for reflection into how we interact with space. With the help of a colorful plastic shell, guided by fans, the Spanish duo encases the space, taking it over completely and modifying our perceptions. By enveloping the area and rendering it “useless” its spatial essence and our awareness of being present in the space is revealed, disorienting whomever passes through it. For Outdoor, the duo has, for the first time in their careers, multiplied the installation, creating one environment inside the other, allowing them to interact. The yellow film clings to the wall of the room, highlighting normally neglected architectural elements and creating creases that add meaning to the space. In a corner of the interior lays a large, red rectangular form, also visitable, the true protagonist of the work. The red body is extraneous and independent, but constantly in dialogue with the yellow shell inside which it is inserted. From within the red form it is possible to interact with people present in the main body, creating a profound sense of detachment. The two shells do not have a direct connection between them. In fact, in order to access each shell the spectator is forced along different paths inside the barracks.
