Kalamkari, hand drawn in iron-based ink with bamboo pen by J. Gurappa Chetty, hand-dyed with natural dyes by wife per tradition; central scene surrounded by left to right rectangular cells depicting different aspects of the Christ story, classical Teluga written underneath narrates scenes, filled with symbolism - umbrella held over Jesus heading into Jerusalem (far lower right), leper being admitted through roof for Jesus to heal (far right). temptations for Jesus depicted with devil shown mid-left cell, Mary Magdalene washing Jesus' feet with her hair, depiction of Jesus talking with children suggested by donor Reverend David Lindell; typically Kalamkari focused on Hinduism, but was commissioned by missionaries to be drawn with Christian focus
