Ma^zha^ tseka Ma^thi^ (Moving to a New Country) is a visual exploration of the Osage creation story in which the Osage were sent down from the stars to be caretakers of the earth. The vibrant sky and richly colored landscape are built up in multiple layers of paint and text as RedCorn retained what worked aesthetically while painting over parts that felt unresolved—a metaphor for the resilience of her ancestors who left behind things that did not work.
"Wah-zha-zhe ni-ka-shi (Osage people) have done a similar process over time. We take with us the ok’a^ (ways) that work, and leave behind the ok’a^ that do not. We move to a new country. Ma^zha^ tseka Ma^thi^."
