The painting is of the artist’s niece, Nevine Sirry. She was the daughter of former prime minister Hussein Sirry and Nahed Saïd, one of Mahmoud Saïd’s sisters. Nevine’s first husband was Ismaïl Mazloum, Mahmoud Saïd’s cousin.
